I used to hear it's impossible, that AMD had these babies locked tight to factory settings (physically, or something). Then again, I hear there's some people that still managed to do it. Is there, and how did they do it? I'm not really eager to have go at it myself, I'm more curious than anything. Any word?

No, the multi on the Athlon 64 actually is locked, AFAIK. The confusion may arise form the fact that the x is locked only upward, so you may have read some reviewers sites that say they've altered it… However, you can still O/C the A64 without messing with the CPU multiplier. I don't think the HTT multiplier is locked.
