| My old computer had served me well during last two years. Even now everything is just fine, but I have problems with recent games and some programs. They all need , what seems to me, insane amounts of RAM and I have only 512MB which was more than enough till recently. Can you give me some advice about amount of RAM I need now. Am I going to experience visible performance improvement if I add more RAM? |

| You are right. Recent games eat memory like its worth nothing. And other programs are not lot better. I have seen music player eating 100MB RAM just for fun. If you plan playing a lot of games then your minimum will be 1GB RAM. And here you have the rule the more the better. Believe me, games will consume every last MB you have. For other programs amount of RAM is dependent of what programs you are using, but 1gb would be more than enough for comfortable work. You will hardly experience improvements from 512MB to 1GB in every day work except in some extreme situations but considering games you can safely go for as much RAM as you can buy. |
