I've said it all, I suppose. Whenever I try the conditional scan, it just freezes and won't finish, but won't give up either. In the end, I have to use Ctrl Alt Del to free up the resources and restart (I can't even catch it in the end task pane, it moves around, I swear!) When I restart, it seems to work again, but the same thing happens on the next scan. Any ideas?

I can only imagine the cause is unidentified malware, but the solution seems fairly obvious – just reinstall the program, preferably replacing it with an updated version. If it's so stuck that it won't even uninstall, there are utilities for hard-removing software out of the registry, which should do the trick.
