| Sometimes when I restart, my CD Rom drive (see subject line) does not get detected by the system. Sometimes it does, however, I don't know what makes the difference, it seems to be completely random. Also, even when the drive is detected, it takes a long time (up to 10 seconds) for the POST to show the device. Any idea why this is so? |

| I'm not really sure, but there's a couple of things you could try: First, check all the connections on the drive – that includes both the IDE cable and the power supply – and make sure neither one is loose or something like that. Second, see whether or not the CD drive is sharing an IDE line with your HDD. If it is, try connecitng it separately, preferably with a different cable. |
