Does anybody know whether there are differences between ATA-100 and Ultra ATA-100? Ive come across these two standards and Im wondering is there any real differences, or this Ultra prefix only means that the old device is a bit updated and nothing else. Is it faster and how much? I hope that Ive put this question properly. Thanks in advance.

Hey pal! I cant precisely answer you on this question and the same question has been bugging me a couple of days. All I know is that manufacturers tend to boost their products a bit and add various bombastic prefixes in order to attract more customers. It is usually the case that the products are very similar to their previous version and that it isnt so necessary to buy the latest version, but many people behave as if they were hypnotized and whenever something new appears, they rush to the store and buy it. I think that ATA-100 and Ultra ATA-100 are basically the same, and that home users cant perceive the improvements. Perhaps the advanced users can.
