I'm thinking of getting this model, but have sort of heard some bad stuff about it. It's right in my price range, though… Haven't been able to find a review on the web, so I'm asking here: has anyone used it? Pros, cons, and the like? Anything I should know about? TIA.

I think I may have had this modem for a while (can't be sure of the exact model), and it served. Like you say, it's real cheap, and that's its main "pro". AFAICS, some claim it's got less effective error connection than other models, so it works slower. Other than that, I don't know. But it's a $12 investment, you can't really go horribly wrong there.
