I suppose you do have a router on your network? If not, you should get one. If yes, it might be what's causign these traffic issues – sometimes when you install a new version of an IM program, the ports it uses get changed, and nothing notifies your router of that, so it keeps some of those closed, and other open, which can wrack all kinds of havoc.
So, find out which ports your version of AIM wants open, and use your router's configuration page to open them. |
