Hi there. I have finally managed to finish with the last upgrade of my old PC that is sitting in the right corner of my room, still working flawlessly. I am about to plug Ati Radeon 9600 XT in the AGP 4X motherboard. And because I have heard about some voltage difference between the 4X & 8X standard I am getting more and more concerned regarding overall performance of the ‘old guy’. Is this card or motherboard going to be safe? Thanks in advance.

I can’t remember exactly how much difference there is, but the more important question isn’t “is there?”, but how much? Not that much. Theoretically, your hardware is going to work fine, but the practical nature is far more different than the theory. In fact there is no big difference regarding these two offered speeds. 8X AGP is not that much faster than it is supposed to be.
