| That's basically what happens, I hope it wasn't too unclear? To put it more appropriately, when I add a second stick of RAM (512 MB, just like the first one), I don't have a gigabyte of RAM (or 1024 MB, or what), but only 896 MB! How is this even possible? Is it just reported incorrectly, or do I really have less RAM? |

This sometimes happens when you have an onboard video card, which eats up the RAM. In this case, you probably have a card with 128 MB of memory (1024 MB minus 896 MB is 128 MB). |
