Hey all! I want to configure DHCP on a server 2003 machine. What I would like to happen is that the clients release their IP on shutdown, but I’m not really sure that it will happen automatically. Can I configure it somewhere? Is it under ‘network services options’? Thanks in advance!

You didn’t write which OS you’re working under but I think it’s the same with either of the following: Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003. By default, they do not send DHCPRelease messages on shutdown. It should be configured somewhere under ‘network services options’. Read more about it here: .
