I just read this old article (from 2004) about the internet transfer speed record being set at 101 GB per second. Has this been outdone since 2004? I imagine that by now we should have even higher speed available. And another thing: The article says that that speed (100 GB/sec) is roughly equal to downloading 3 full DVD movies per second… which sounds wring to me. Don't know about you, but my DVD movies usually aren't 30 GB heavy. This is some sort of typo, right?

I remember when this was mentioned in the media. Not sure about a new record being set since 2004, though. I just tried googling for it, and all I get are texts from 2004. Regarding the transfer speed illustration, you've got things mixed up here. It's 101 Gigabits per sec, which isn't the same as 101 Gigabytes. The ratio is 8 to 1, actually, so those three DVDs would be about 4 GB (gigabytes) each.
