Hi there. The problem I have is very strange slow down of whole system. It is so slow from time to time that I can not do anything and I started to hate my computer. I checked with listed processes in Task Manager, and found that ccap.exe was occasionally consuming 100% of my CPU. I think this is a guilty one. What is ccapp.exe? Do I have a virus on my computer?

hi. This is related to your Norton Antivirus. Ccapp.exe is a legal application, not virus or any kind of malware, but it has a nasty habit to eat resources of the host machine. Many people complain about this. It is a central feature that call calls another NAV features and is essential for Auto-Protect, Email Scanning and another Norton applications. Some people say it slows down the system to zero while performing particular tasks. It takes 44 MB of RAM, as I found, and can take some 98% of CPU time. Some people, on the other hand say that it works fine. That is a little bit confusing and makes me think that there might be some configuration settings that can be done to decrease the problem. If you have something that is constantly running and might be keeping ccapp.exe active, try disabling it. Example is Outlook.
